Inn at Bay Harbor’s Vintage Chophouse | Wine Bar Earns 2023 Wine Spectator Restaurant Award
Named Among the World’s Best Restaurants for Wine
A Boyne Resorts’ Michigan restaurant has been honored for its outstanding wine programs in Wine Spectator’s 2023 Restaurant Awards, which celebrate the world’s best restaurants for wine.
Vintage Chophouse | Wine Bar located at the Inn at Bay Harbor received Awards of Excellence recognizing restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style.
“In a time of technological innovation, restaurants offer the human experience diners are hungry for—listening to their customers and offering personalized experience,” said Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and Publisher, Wine Spectator. “This annual issue celebrates the places where wine is at the top of that conversation. I’m pleased to congratulate all 3,505 restaurants for their dedication to wine and wine-loving diners.”
The 2023 awards recognized winners from all 50 states in the U.S. and more than 70 countries.
Vintage Chophouse | Wine Bar embodies the charm of a classic all-American steakhouse complemented by elements of an upscale lounge.
Vintage’s Wine Director and Restaurant Manager, Jamison Cronk, says their wine program stands out for its diversity, focus on small producers, regional representation, thoughtful pairing suggestions, inclusivity in pricing, and sustainability.
“We pride ourselves on a diverse selection of wines from around the world,” said Cronk.“We highlight the best of American wine regions, while also offering an extensive international selection.”
He added, “We like to showcase small producers highlighting commitment to quality and craftsmanship, and sourcing vintage wines to allow our guests to enjoy mature wines and evolution of flavors over time. And a focus on sustainable and organic practices is also at the forefront as Vintage grows the number of wines from producers who adhere to sustainable, organic, and biodynamic farming practices.”
Vintage places a priority on wine training and education with four members receiving formal training from the Court of Master Sommeliers on staff.
Launched in 1981, the Restaurant Awards represent the world’s only program focused exclusively on restaurant wine service. They are assigned on three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence, and the Grand Award, with 2,001; 1,411; and 93 winners this year in each respective category.
Wine Spectator’s special Restaurant Awards issue is on newsstands now.
